Honest numbers. No surprises. Built to last decades.

Last Updated: [MAY 2026]

Picture this: it’s a cold January evening. You step outside, walk twenty feet to your own cedar sauna, and within minutes the day’s tension is gone. No gym. No drive. No appointment. Just heat, quiet, and a ritual that’s yours.

That’s what we build. And on this page, we’ll tell you exactly what it costs — no gatekeeping, no fine print.

Our projects start at $15,000. Most land between $25,000 and $30,000. Full luxury outdoor bathhouses can run $200,000 or more. Here’s what shapes that range.

What Drives the Price

Five things move the needle. Knowing them helps you decide where to invest and where to save.

Size

Bigger saunas mean more lumber, a larger heater, and more labor. A 2-person indoor room runs $15K–$22K. A 4-person outdoor cabin: $30K–$55K. A 6–8 person luxury build: $75K and up.

Wood

This is the biggest cost lever — and the biggest factor in how long your sauna lasts.

  • Hemlock — Hemlock — entry-level. Light, smooth, low-odor. Great for indoor builds.
  • Western Red Cedar — Western Red Cedar — our most popular. Aromatic, moisture resistant, ages beautifully outdoors.
  • Thermally Modified Wood — Thermally Modified Wood — premium. Heat-treated for maximum stability. Lasts 40–60+ years.

Indoor vs. Outdoor

Indoor saunas use your home’s existing structure and cost less. Outdoor cabins are standalone — they need a foundation, weatherproofing, and dedicated electrical, but deliver the full experience: walking outside, breathing cold air, then stepping into the heat.

Heater & Steam

  • Standard electric heater: included
  • Premium high-capacity heater: +$1,000–$3,500
  • Wood-burning heater + chimney: +$2,500–$6,000
  • Steam generator: +$3,000–$8,000

Add-Ons

Where it gets personal: chromotherapy lighting, custom benches, glass walls, sound systems, cold plunges. Add-ons typically range from a few hundred dollars to $20,000+ depending on your vision.

Why Quotes Vary So Much

If you’ve gotten quotes from other builders, you’ve probably seen big swings. Here’s what’s actually different:

What you’re paying for with us

  • Licensed, insured, and sauna-specific experience (not general carpentry) • Proper vapor barriers, insulation, and ventilation — the difference between a sauna that lasts 30 years and one that rots in 5
  • Verified premium suppliers and a craftsmanship warranty

What cheaper quotes often skip

  • Moisture management — the #1 cause of sauna failure
  • Licensed electrical for outdoor 240V
  • Quality lumber that won’t warp, split, or discolor

A cedar sauna built right will outlive your car, your roof, and most of your appliances.

A cheap build can need interior replacement within a decade.

The Real Cost — Over Time

A custom sauna isn’t an expense. It’s an asset that compounds — financially, physically, and emotionally.

  • Daily use of a private sauna: roughly $2–$4 per session over the sauna’s life. Compare that to $30–$50 at a spa.
  • A well-built sauna typically recoups 50–80% of its cost in home value.
  • Cedar and thermally modified wood require almost no maintenance for 25–60 years.

And the part that’s harder to put a number on: the routine. The way it changes your evenings. The conversations that happen in there. That’s what customers tell us about months later — not the spec sheet.

Quick Answers

  • Why is $15,000 your minimum?

Below that price, we can’t deliver the materials, craftsmanship, or structural integrity we stand behind. Pre-fab kit saunas exist for less — but they’re a fundamentally different product, and we won’t put our name on one.

  • How long does a build take?

Most projects: 4–10 weeks from contract to first session. Larger outdoor bathhouses: 12–16 weeks. We give you a real timeline up front, not a guess.

  • What's included in the quote?

Design, materials, labor, and standard heater electrical. Site prep (foundation, decking, grading) is quoted separately based on your property.

  • Do I need a permit?

Often, yes — especially for outdoor structures over 200 sq ft. We help you navigate local requirements during planning.

  • Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Specifics are in every contract and vary by build type. Ask us during your consultation.

  • Where do you build?

Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and surrounding states. Travel costs may apply outside the Treasure Valley.
